Hiking with Mama
Grandpa J. and the Frog
Grandma and Grandpa treated us to a lovely weekend on Catalina Island. They sailed out on their boat, and we took the Express (which is much faster for a toddler time frame). We stayed on the USC campus, where they study environmental studies. Grandma W. worked for USC in development, so we were lucky to stay there, and have a protected cove all to ourselves. Froggydadda said the fish must know they're protected, because they're so tame.
We snorkled and swam, and took the dingy out around the harbor. Grandpa J. built a viewing box for Froggy that we put in the water so she could see the fish below. I can't believe we had two vacations this summer! And both (even with a toddler) were fun!
Even with the ocean and fish and incredible view, the most spectacular moments were at night, looking up at the stars. Living in Los Angeles, I forget what it's like to walk out and witness the magnitude of the milky way and shooting stars. It was wonderful waking up to the sound of song birds and the waves, rather than a garbage truck and honking neighbors. I wouldn't mind the island life. I'm ready for the calm.

I am sooooo jealous of the gorgeous landscapes you have on your doorstep. The most exciting things we get to see here are stagnant canals and dilapidated windmills.
What a fantastic vacation-filled summer for you guys!
What a fabulous weekend! Catalina looks beautiful and it's great to hear that you got in some good relaxation.
I always forget to mention how cute Buddy is! I had a pomeranian in college that I adored, but she was stolen from me. :(
Shiner ate some new plants out of the backyard this weekend and I should have snapped a picture of the destruction for you!
Beautiful pictures, I miss the ocean! Glad you guys could get away and enjoy a relaxing vacation. :)
Thanks for the travelog with Froggy. Your scenes of the coast are breathtaking. Froggydaddy is cute too.
Hey FM, great to see you all are getting some down time from everyday life.
And thanks for the note on my blog. At the moment, I'm at a bit of a crossroads and I've taken down the blog until I figure out what I want to do. Nothing earth shattering, just a bit of a personal quandry.
Anyway, things have been super hectic for several months but I'm still reading several blogs, one of which is yours! Just haven't been vocal for awhile.
looks lovely. haven't been there in soooo long. and when we did go - it was only for a day trip. what fun, great pics. jcn
